John “Johny” Ralph Stringfield has made a profound impact on many lives and in the Binghamton community. His life and story continue to touch lives and challenge those who knew him or know of his story to make a difference in their own lives and/or the community. Johny gave much of his time to family, church, school, football, and towards the end of his life, to efforts of raising awareness about addiction.
Johny was a co-founder of a community group raising awareness about heroin called “I’m Dope without Dope.” In the later years of his life, Johny struggled with addiction and passed away at age 24. His efforts to seek help were cut short due to lack of services in our area and insurance regulations. Regardless of the addiction he was battling, Johny wanted to help others. He shared his story in hopes that he could inspire those affected by addiction to turn their lives around and to prevent others from using drugs in the first place.
Although Johny is not alive today to continue this work, his legacy and passion lives on through those who knew and still love him. This fund was created, in Johny’s memory to promote a drug-free lifestyle and encourage high school students to persevere through their circumstances and assist them in pursuing their dreams of continuing education.
